Cuteness Abounds
Our neighbors Toxie and Robert have two dogs…correction: they had two dogs–Baby and Storm. Baby and Storm being a boy and a girl, though, things happened…cuddly things…adorable things…
(Welcome to the worst advertisement ever for having your pets spayed or neutered.)
Let me begin by saying that Wendy and I are not pet photographers. We’re both pretty allergic to cats and dogs, but sometimes the cuddlyness is just freakin’ worth it. You suck it up, take a Claritin, and take some pictures. That’s what happened here.
Also, if you decide that you need one of the puppies to come and live with you, keep reading to the bottom, because three of these puppies are still unspoken-for.
(Yawning puppies…that’s what it’s come to.)
These are the boys of the litter. Yoda, JoJo, and Nitrate. (Note: names most likely don’t correspond to puppy order.)
These are the ladies, Frankie and Pink. (Wendy says Pink is the one with the smaller head. Please note the pink ribbon.)
Puppy: “Come on, man! A boxer puppy on a boxing glove–isn’t that a little cliché?”
Me: “Do you want to get adopted into a loving home with people who will rub your belly and feed you treats?”
Puppy:”Yeah…”
Me: “Then quit your yappin’ and look adorable.”
“Do you think it will help if I make eye contact with the camera?”
“No, wait…this is my good side.”
(Okay, that’s actually three different puppies, but we’re going with the narrative, okay?)
Puppy: “All this photography is tiring!”
Me: “Then go to sleep. There’s not much cuter than a sleeping puppy.”
Me: “Okay, yeah, that’s pretty stinkin’ cute. Is there anything else you could do that’s super, insanely cute so people will just absolutely have to adopt you?”
So yeah, if you’d like to take one of these little guys (or girls) home with you, send an email to… (Sorry, they’re all adopted!)
If you’re looking for a cat or a less pugilistic puppy, I strongly suggest paying a visit to Pets Inc, a rescue shelter here in Columbia that has a great mission and a lot of wonderful animals who are looking for homes. Finally, all joking aside, these puppies were planned and are loved and taken care of, but far too many pets aren’t. Bob Barker is right–spay or neuter your pets.

Baby Photos: Amelia
My friend Brandi teaches elementary school. When she announced to her class a few years ago that she was getting married one of her students piped up excitedly: “You’re gonna’ have a baby!”
As it happens, Brandi did have a baby a few years later, but we’ll get to that little guy in a later post. See, Wendy and I photographed Danny and Becky’s wedding a few years ago, and this past summer, they added a little one to their family. Meet Amelia.
Precious, huh? Here’s another.
Remember guys, baby-curls will get your biceps ripped.
Of course, when adding a baby to your family’s number, there’s always the possibility that other family members will be apprehensive. That was the case with Emmy.
Fortunately, whatever doubts Emmy had she got over quickly, and now she and Amelia are great buds, even if Amelia does pull her ears from time to time.
Since we took these photos, Amelia has only gotten cuter, which is impressive given how cute she was to begin with.
I hope everyone is having a better week now that Wikipedia is back up. Remember to fight internet censorship, lest little ones like Amelia grow up in a world where they don’t even know the meaning of “Rickrolled.”
Dog Portrait: Sir Chubbs II
Amie and Chris are an absolutely awesome couple whose wedding we’ll be photographing next May. When Wendy and I sat down with them to talk about their photos, we asked if there were any specific photos they felt they absolutely had to have. It turns out there was only one: a photo of their pug, Sir Chubbs II, wearing a tuxedo.
(Is there really any need for more introduction than that?)
Because Chris and Amie’s wedding is outdoors, Chubbs won’t be able to be in attendance. We learned from them that due to pugs’ shortened breathing passages, they can’t really stand to be out in the heat for extended periods. So, since Chubbs couldn’t be a member of the wedding party, Amie and Chris dressed this precious pooch up in tails and a bow tie for his own pre-wedding portrait just before their engagement session.
Meet Sir Chubbs:
After a few casual poses on the pillow, Chubbs changed into his formal attire.
(Wendy’s mother said she thinks he looks like Winston Churchill in this picture.)
(Yup, his tail is sticking out from between his tails.)
(If they ever make an all-dog version of Oceans 11, Chubbs is a shoo-in.)
I have never seriously tried to photograph dogs before, figuring that it would be too hard to pose them and that the noise of the camera and the light from the flashes would spook them. Chubbs, though, was a real trooper, and Chris and Amie were terrific at keeping him where he should be and looking in the right direction. Still, after hundreds of shots and two different outfits, Chubbs had pretty much had it…
(Don’t feel too bad for him. That expression could be exhaustion or the look a dog gets when he has been stuffed to the brim with doggie treats.)
We actually did photograph Chris and Amie, but we figured Chubbs deserved his own post. Nonetheless, here’s Chubbs with his mom and dad, of whom you’ll be seeing more soon.
Remember, sharing is caring, so if you’d like to share Sir Chubbs II with your friends, you can do so easily by clicking on the links below for Facebook, Twitter, or the social whosamawhatsie of your choice. I’m not saying the ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future are going to visit you if you don’t share, but why take the risk?
More to come!
