Bridal Portraits: Lou

We have a very quick post for you tonight as we’re currently celebrating and capturing Lou and Hans‘ wedding. We knew, though, that you’d want to see how lovely the bride is, so here are just a few from Lou’s bridal portrait session at Workshop Theatre and the State House. Enjoy, and come back soon for images from the wedding!

Statehouse Bridal Portraits: Sara

Our friends Brian and Sara got married today and we couldn’t be happier for them!

We photographed Sara’s bridal portraits at the South Carolina State House back in April when the flowers on the grounds were absolutely beautiful. So, of course, was  Sara.

Now, I mentioned in Brian and Sara’s engagement post that Sara worked with monkeys, apes, and small mammals. Now that she’s married to Brian, though, Sara is moving up the the frozen north and leaving behind her beloved animals. I think the least we can do for her is to offer to you all a little reminder about how to tell a monkey from an ape. It’s easy to remember, and catchy, too!

Carolyn + Dustin: A Columbia Wedding

Today we’re taking a sneak peek at Carolyn and Dustin’s wedding. Carolyn (like my gorgeous wife, Wendy) is one of three sisters, all of whom are lovely and all of whom I’ve known for several years now.  I don’t know what is is about sets of three sisters (we photographed another set recently), but it seems like they’re consistently beautiful. There’s probably some genetic explanation for it, but I prefer to believe it has to do with fairy godparents.

In keeping with fairy-tale decorum, Carolyn found a prince and got married so that suitors are free to pursue her younger sisters. (That’s how it works, right?) Of course, to marry the princess, a suitable suitor must arise. This isn’t the dark ages, though; we’re not talking about a guy on a white horse looking to score a maiden who has huge tracts of land. No, Carolyn needed to find a man who could match the passion and conviction of her beliefs, and she found just such a suitor in Dustin.

Dustin had to come from the far-off land of Colorado to find Carolyn, but I’m sure he’d agree the journey was well worth it.

Now, every princess needs her attendants, and Carolyn is no different in this respect. Here is her sister preparing for the ball…er, wedding.

But princes get to have their comrades-in-arms, too.

Every princess needs pretty things.

A gift from the prince never hurts.

…especially when it’s shiny.

Leah: Bridal

One of the hardest things about wedding photography is taking bridal photos, being really delighted with them, and then not being able to share them until the wedding. Well, we can finally share with you Leah’s bridal portraits. She and Greg were married Saturday in Greenwood and Wendy and I (and everybody else, as far as I can tell) had a fantastic time.

Way back in September, though, Leah came down to Columbia and we got to capture these lovely images of her in her wedding gown.

Since she was a little girl, Leah had wanted to have her bridal photo taken at the South Carolina State House. We certainly weren’t going to argue with a little girl’s dreams.

Wendy got this picture of Leah that really shows off her amazing blue eyes. Greg’s eyes are almost as bright as you can see from their engagement photos. Their kids’ eyes are going to be gorgeous! (Not that we’re rushing you, guys.)

We had so much fun with Leah that we wound up shooting until the sun went down. Even though there wasn’t much light to work with, we decided to get in a few more shots featuring the lights of Columbia. This was one of our favorites.

We have a lot of pictures to go through, but we’ll be sharing a few quick teasers from Leah and Greg’s wedding next week. Be sure to come back and check them out!
